Sonke Gender Justice Network and the MenEngage Alliance recently held a weeklong symposium in Johannesburg Oct 5-9th to profile research, programmes and policies related to efforts to engage men and boys in achieving gender equality and to promote greater dialogue and shared action between women's rights organizations and organizations working with men and boys for gender equality.
Sonke coordinated the development of a case study collection which was launched at the symposium and is attached here and available at the following URL: http://www.genderjustice.org.za/resources/journal-articles-book-chapter…
The case study collection includes a number of context setting pieces, including an analysis of existing national, regional and international policies, and profiles organizations working across the continent to engage men and boys in addressing the gender inequalities driving the spread of HIV and exacerbating the impact of AIDS, including a special focus on men and boys in post-conflict settings.
The Sonke website also includes the symposium programme and the presentations delivered there which covered a broad range of topics.
