Men only? No
Introduction
XY is always keen to publish new content, as well as reprinting pieces published elsewhere. Please send in your articles, stories, graphics, and other material.
XY will publish or re-publish content which addresses men, masculinities, gender, and/or sexualities. Articles generally should make some mention of or have content related to men, masculinities, and gender or sexuality. General articles addressing gender or sexuality are less likely to published.
XY will publish a wide variety of materials, but some possible forms of content include:
- A commentary on a particular issue or topic related to men and masculinities;
- An account of a specific intervention, program, or initiative;
- An excerpt from your book, or a summary of or discussion of it;
- An announcement or discussion of an event, workshop, or conference.
XY will also publish your photos, cartoons, and other images. And we welcome contributions from regular or guest bloggers.
Please note that authors retain copyright of their work.
We look forward to hearing from you.
More detail follows below.
How to submit something
Please email your contributions to Michael Flood at m.flood [at] qut.edu.au. Your piece(s) may be sent as attachments or in the body of an e-mail. Alternatively, use the contact form for XY at http://www.xyonline.net/contact (although this will not take attachments).
You may send in a single article or item, or you may wish to become a regular contributor.
Politics
Content which falls outside our editorial guidelines will not be published. In particular, content which is anti-feminist will not be published.
While XY is built on a commitment to feminism, we recognise that feminist theories and politics are diverse and even contradictory. XY publishes content which reflects a variety of feminist positions, and we encourage debate and discussion.
Style
Articles for XY ideally are accessible to the lay reader. Although we welcome theoretical and academic discussion, articles should not be written in a highly academic style. Please avoid the use of footnotes. XY in general will not publish lengthy, academic pieces.
Blogging
XY is keen to host a range of bloggers on men, masculinities, and gender issues.
Bloggers may blog as frequently or infrequently as you wish, whether several times a day or once every few weeks.
You can decide whether to allow comments on your blog entries or not.
Bloggers may syndicate their writing, publishing it both elsewhere and and on the XY site.
Images: photos, cartoons, etc.
XY also publishes photos, cartoons, and other images.
If you are contributing images, please let us know if they require captions or a reference to a website where further images can be seen.
Reprinting / re-publishing
XY is happy to re-publish content which addresses men, masculinities, gender, and/or sexualities, including materials available online elsewhere. We are happy to hear your requests to reprint your materials. And we are happy to hear suggestions about others’ pieces which XY could reprint. In reprinting pieces, we will of course acknowledge their source and, if appropriate, provide a link to your site.
XY will reprint images as well as text.
Payment
Unfortunately, we are not able to pay for submissions.
Publications in other languages
We are happy to publish materials in languages other than English. If you are contributing materials in languages other than English (such as Spanish, French, or other languages), please provide a translation at least of the title, and ideally of the entire text.
Men only? No
We welcome contributions from men, women, and others.
